A Pomsky is a crossbreed between the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian. It was initially bred to be a small version of the husky and is now known as one of the most beautiful and sought after designer breeds today.
An F1 Pomsky will only contain these two breeds. Further generations may include the German Spitz or American Eskimo as these are also permitted breeds within the Pomsky. Each puppy can develop traits from either parent so some may be smaller and look more Pomeranian while others take after the Husky and be larger. Pomskies can vary greatly in size, but as a general rule of thumbm, they range from the size of a large pomeranian to a small husky, with the average being the size of a beagle.
The Pomsky’s expected life span is 12-15 years.
Pomskies generally have a good, extroverted temperament, although it does vary depending on the foundation breeds involved. Early socializing and handeling of the puppies will make a great difference in the temperament of any dog. Pomskies should be happy, confident, and be dog friendly. They can do great with cats as long as they are introduced at a young age and taught to respect them. A pomsky not familiar with cats or poultry will by nature typically have prey drive and give chase. They tend to be attracted to children and are patient, loyal best friends to their human children. A well bred and well socialized Pomsky makes an excellent family pet.
The Pomsky is highly intelligent, making reward-based training easy. Take note that some dogs are more stubborn than others and some aspects may need more patience than others. Keeping in mind that a crossbred dogs' genetics will vary.
Pomskies are double coated dogs, meaning they have an undercoat and a top coat.
Please note: rather you purchase a standard (shorter coat), plush (medium coat), or wooly (thick/long coat), the shedding amount WILL BE THE SAME! They generally have two major coat blows per year where they shed their undercoat. A coat blow usually lasts one to two weeks and during this time they will need extra brushing. We would recommend using an undercoat rake to pull out all the dead hair and then brushing through afterwards.

POMSKY SIZE/WEIGHT:
TOY- Under 10” tall at the shoulder, and up to 15 pounds.
MINI- Up to 14” at the shoulder, and between 12-20 pounds.
STANDARD- Between 14-18” tall at the shoulder, and between 20-35 pounds.
Dogs that fall between categories should be judged by height rather than weight.
Categories do have some overlapping weights for this reason.
POMSKY COLOR:
As Pomskies are a mix of the Siberian Husky, Pomeranian, and American Eskimo breeds, all color combinations that are naturally occurring in the parental breeds are acceptable.
GENERATION BREAKDOWN:

F1 Pomsky- An F1 Pomsky is when the Mother of the Pomsky is a Husky and the Father is a Pomeranian. This shouldn’t ever be reversed , the mother should always be bigger.
F2 Pomsky- An F2 Pomsky is when both parents, the mother and the father of the Pomsky, are F1 Pomskies. This means the Grandmother is a Husky and the Grandfather is a Pomeranian.
MULTI GENERATIONAL-  Parents, Grandparents and Great Grandparents of the Pomsky are all F2 Pomskies.
F1B Pomsky-  F1B Pomsky, the B stands for backcross, when an F1 Pomsky crosses with a purebred Pomeranian or Siberian Husky.
This means the Pomsky offspring is either 75% Pomeranian and 25% Siberian Husky, or 25% Pomeranian and 75% Husky.
We are offering MULTI GENERATIONAL pomsky puppies here at Mountain Hight Kennels, our dogs fall within the standard of TOY and MINI sizes.
We do our best to estimate adult weight, but Pomskie, like people—don’t always follow the rules! From dainty lap dogs to sturdy adventurers, there’s a wide range of possibilities, and we love every one of them!
